Laundry day. I'd rather hand wash my socks than deal with laundry day. It's always fine when you get there and you can zone out people watching but the energy it takes to suck it up and drag your mounds of laundry to the laundromat is astronomical. In Britain a washing machine comes hand in hand with renting an apartment but in the states...no dice. Welcome to my laundry day. It has been a dreamy couple days for me, sunshine and days off school, woo hoo! I've been prancing around with friends drinking too much coffee and eating more mexican food than I care to admit. I don't usually get any days off what with work and school so it feels like vacation!

Sugarlips sent me this sweet aviation blouse. It pretty much goes with everything I wear - now I just need to get a few badges and a cap. Boat cruise! - whose with me?!

I found this Eiffel tower box purse at my local Salvation Army and immediately thought of my girl. I know I should send it to her but I keep wanting to wear it, and every time I wear it I look down and think of her. So maybe I should just keep it around for a little longer, it's like she's with me in spirit or something. Downside to all this is I've been missing her like crazy. Damn you cross continental soul sister. One day we will be together again.

It's been pretty radical in San Francisco the past couple days. Lovely warm weather after a rainy patch puts everyone in a good mood. I thrifted these sweet shorts the same day I found this beautiful skirt both are on heavy rotation in my wardrobe. I have far too many nautical inspired garments...or far too few.

I made pesto today, and hummus. It made me miss my mom but at least now I have a kitchen full of delicious smells and a fridge stocked up for the week. I cook from scratch most nights, perhaps I should start sharing some of my favorite recipes.

What am I doing? It's not spring time yet, but I couldn't wait. This sweet pastel dress needed to be worn. I don't normally dress so cutesy, but an impromptu date with some rather fancy ladies deemed it necessary (not that I was complaining). We ate ramen in Japan town and hit up Pika Pika for some silly times. ...I could have spent all my money there.

This bag is the ultimate, I thrifted it last week for a mere 6 bucks and it's not left my body since. It fits my laptop and has a bazillion different pockets. I am sure you guys will be seeing a lot of it.

Damn it's cold. All i want to do is sit in bed, drink tea and watch netflix. Getting out of pijamas seems like mission impossible. Goodbye Windhoek, i'll miss you! With my batteries fully charged i'm heading back to SF, leaving a bit of my heart behind with my mom for safe keeping.

On our last night we went out for dinner, it was fun throwing on a frock and eyeliner (it had been a while). I can't take credit for this amazing dress. It's Jens. I don't know how I convinced her to let me borrow it, but I threw it (i mean carefully placed it) into my bag as quick as lightning when I got the go ahead. I probably would have styled this quite differently had I had my wardrobe at my disposal but I made do with what I had in my suitcase.

I hope to see a few of you faces on Sunday for the Golden Collective sale! The last one we had was a hoot, what a perfect way to be welcomed home.

I thought I would give you guys a little taste of our family camping trip to Botswana. We visited the Makgadikgadi national park and spent new years with friends on the salt pans (plenty more photos of my flickr).

My brother leaves today, he is embarking on an epic trip across the states which will end in San Francisco. He plans on settling in the Bay Area for a while. It's excited to have family near. I'm sad he is leaving, it means this trip is coming to an end. I wish I could freeze time.

Woah, I just realized there is nothing vintage or thrifted in this ensamble. Something rather unusual for me. There is a happy story behind this sweet cape. I'd tried it on 3 times at Urban always putting it back on the rack with a heavy heart as it was way over my budget. Then, on a stroll downtown with my girl we poped into Urban to discover 50% off sale, and there shining out was my dream cape.

It's Battle Royale downtown, gathering lastminute Christmas gifts and getting errands done before I take off for back home. San Francisco I will miss you. I'll be gone for a few weeks for some much needed TLC. It's been a whole year since i've seen my mama and step dad. I can't freaking wait.

I told my self this will be the last time but with corduroy maxis showing up at my local thrift town for a mere $2.99 it's getting pretty hard to resist. Damn you soft buttery brown cord I need you in my life.

The raccoon cardigan I'm wearing seems to be a big hit with the old ladies in my neighborhood. They think it is just delightful and cheeky. It's definitely an icebreaker at the bus stop and has scored me more than one free mint.

This gem was a floor length ghastly thing before I took my scissors to it, now it's the only dress I want to wear. $5, oversized, soft navy cord, what more could you ask for?

I ended up looking like a little school boy this morning so I threw on some red lipstick. I never nevvveeerrrr wear lipstick, it just doesn't suit my face....or so I thought.
I spent ages a Sunday afternoon with my girl Jenny in Saphora trying out different shades. It was between this, a deep purple or a bright orange. I played safe with classic dark red. Now i'm kind of addicted. Maybe I'll save my pennys and get all three!

Bonus ball! I've never really celebrated thanksgiving before, so this holiday is the ultimate addition to my life. Last year I had a quite celebration with friends but this year was a full blow family thankgiving. I went home with my girl Jenny and ate delicious food with the delicious company of her 30+ family members. Oh what a day. I wanted to sleep forever. I am so thankful (emphasis on the full) to have thanksgiving in my life.

Isn't it annoying how some days, no matter how large your closet you just "have nothing to wear"??? It's a funny phenomena which I'm pretty sure happens to us all. Luckily I have the answer. Two things: Mariah Carey + my beloved Jenny (roommate and soul sister). Whenever this wardrobe malfunction arises, I just cruise on into her room and with the help of Mariah's sweet voice and Jenny's rad closet we just work, work it out. :)

Yeah yeah, you know, i just like prancing around forests in high heels and a dress. It's really no big deal. I do it all the time.

BOOM! It's cold out side! My fingers, toes and nose have been freezing. Yesterday was summer but today theres a real bite in the air. Now all I want to do it cozy up at home with tea and movies.

I've been sewing a lot this past week. This cord dress was a ridiculous maxi, but the buttery soft cord won me over and now with a a few snips and stiches it's a devine mini dress perfect for fall.

At last a few snaps I took at a Halloween party I had last weekend. I love how creative and excited everyone was. So many good friends under one roof dancing in silly costumes. Oh hell yes.

On actual Halloween my street turns into trick or treat central. It's all blocked of and thousands of kids swing by. I mean thousands. We had 600 pieces of candy and were out in less than an hour. Some of the costumes were just oh so adorable.

Meet my all time favorite dress. I found her last week at Salvation army and she has not left my side.
Oddly enough I have a really hard time finding dresses. I don't like things too busy and girly so that rules out a lot of thrifted finds. This dress ticks all the right boxes. Colour. Shape. Era. Ahh! I am one happy lady.

Our Vintage Soiree was such a success!!! It was super fun selling and goofing around with Annalise, Jen, Ashley and Rachel. I came home with many new precious pieces. Mostly nautical and novelty print (no surprise there). Hurray! We're planning on doing this event monthly so if you missed it this time be sure to check it out in November.

I found this shirt while out thrifting with Rachel. My heart, it raced. The perfect print. It was in the children's pajama wear section. I've found some of my favorite prints in the children's section.

The title of this post started as coffee and cream but as soon as I uttered those words Whyte Karyn's epic ballad Super Women jumped into my mind. Naturally she's been on repeat all morning. I feel like an 8 year old, dancing around my bedroom getting super hyper to these sweet sounds.

This past Sunday felt like a bit if a dream, as soon as I woke lovely Jen and Annalise swooped me up in their car full of fabulous ladies and we headed to alameda flea market. I'm home and it's awesome!!! I felt all giddy when i looked out the plane window and saw Coit Tower and the Golden Gate Bridge. It seems I landed in a summer paradise, i haven't had to wear a sweater or anything. I stole this dress from Jen's closet a while ago and it's been the perfect thing to throw on in this heat. Thanks lady!

Packing up a house is a lot more work than i'd anticipated. It's really sad and hard to decide what to keep and what to chuck. I found this cardigan in the "dressing up box". My great aunt Soph knitted it for my dad when he was a boy, it's just so wonderful and cozy and I love thinking of my dad wearing it when he was little.

I miss Scotland more and more the longer I am away and now my brother is here it's going to be a hard goodbye. He snapped these photos on a walk we took this afternoon. Thank you Torran!

This over sized, odd shaped linen shirt called out my name at Salvation army. I knew I had to have it but it took me the longest time to style. I originally had it on with a pair of skinny blue jeans and but it ended up being a lovely warm day in SF so i threw on some shorts.

These photos were taken a few days ago, I am with my dad in Scotland for the week and feeling so sentimental. We are packing up our home, going through boxes and boxes of old stuff. It's funny how many things I'm having a hard time parting with, I dont want to forget the memory I get when I see them.

I posted these photos a while back on flicker and on my little tumbler but somehow they never made it here. They're from an amazing camping trip i went on a few weeks back with a bunch of friends. It was so much fun, the days were spent swimming in a big lake and the nights drinking whiskey by a camp fire. There was no one around for miles, what more could you ask for?

The first two photos I took, the last two were taken by my talented lady friend Nikki. I've been dressing like a preppy little boy lately so it was refreshing to throw on a frock, pull out the ferragamo flats and stroll around town with my ladys.

The cut on this dress is something i'd usually avoid, it certainly does nothing for my figure...but the wee sailor bib was irresistible. As I am sure you have guessed I have a huge soft spot for all things nautical so this little number had to come home with me. I've actually worn it quite a lot and am surprised it hasn't had an appearance on here yet.

It's that time of year. The short season of the pink pearl apple. Anyone who knows me knows my obsession with apples. I think I get it from my grandfather who has polished off an apple or two since I can remember.

I'm pretty specific about the apples I like. The tarter the better. We have a cooking tree apple in the garden at home and love eating them straight of the branch. In america it's harder than you would think to get a good tart apple. Cooking apples don't seem to exist, neither do cox apples, the markets are full of fugis and galas.
The closest i've found are pink ladies, granny smiths and the occasional Braeburn.....until one autumn day a few years back when my roommate brought home the ultimate surprise, a box of pink pearls. They are the perfect mix of sour and sweet and have a real bite to them. The most delightful thing is their hot pink insides. Uhhh! I am schmitten with these apples. How I wish their season wasn't so short.
